Kate Perkins
Kate has 20 years experience in homeware product development and buying and working for some of Australia’s largest retailers including Grace Bros, Big W and Freedom. An avid observer of social, environmental and industry trends, Kate will present her thoughts on the most significant global trends and their likely affect on consumers and products in the year ahead.

David Wilson
Retail business today is more than buying product and selling it to the customer. The retailer now needs to broaden their skills to understand other profit and cost centres within their business and the wider community. This session will piece together the jigsaw of how it is done in 2008 which you can implement straight away.
  
3.15pm   Know What Will Sell – A Retailer’s Guide to Successful Buying
Debra Templar

Every piece of merchandise is important to the success of a retail shop. Too much merchandise will stay there longer looking over crowded. Eventually you will have to discount, reducing your profits. If you have too little merchandise, your shop will look empty. Debra will show you how to buy mechandise, negotiate the best price, price your merchandise for maximum profits, and for you to finally recognise when enough is enough.
